First year of the Covid pandemic, under government health controls, Blessing of the Waters was in a very reduced form as gatherings were not allowed. So instead of the usual public event, the vicar Rev Caroline Beckett privately blessed the water. To take part in a non-risky way people “dressed” the outside of their homes instead of the boats, and made ‘boats’ that could be blessed unannounced. The vicar used a water pistol to bless with water to keep to social distancing rather than in the normal way.
