Blessing of the Waters at Brightlingsea has a long history, going back across the centuries. It had stopped in the 1950s, but during his term of office as the Deputy of the Cinque Port Liberty of Brightlingsea, Roger Tabor revived the historic custom in 2014. It took place in the presence of the Lord Warden & Admiral of the Cinque Ports, Admiral Lord Boyce, & he flew his personal standard on his flagship ‘Pioneer’ in our Cinque Port flotilla during the Blessing & Reclaiming of the Waters. He made the toast “Gang-ho!”
